Irish Beer and Soda bread with Spring Onion and Cheese


350g Self raising flour
1/2 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp of ground white pepper
1 bunch of spring onions chopped
100g grated cheese
140ml Guinness
100g butter milk
70g rolled oats


Method

Blend the flour, bicarb, salt and pepper into a mixing bowl.
Add the spring onions and grated cheese and mix again.
Make a well in the middle of the flour and pour in the beer and buttermilk, with a metal spoon stir together to form a soft dough.
Transfer the bread mixture into a clean work surface sprinkled with rolled oats.
Shape the bread into a round loaf, then transfer to a non stick Masterclass baking tray
With a sharp knife cut a cross into the centre of the bread approximately 1cm deep
Bake the bread in a pre heated oven 190c 25 to 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when you tap the bottom.
